Part of an exhibition called Forbidden Entry. The courtyard of the Fisher Gallery was a busy place. People walked and worked there. A reference to antiquity--the black statue on a white pedistal emphasized the University's role as a place to study the past and prepare for the future. At the border where the grass and the brick paving of the courtyard met, a transparent/reflective square sunk into the earth revealed both earth and sky. Six feet into the grass and six feet away into the paving, parallel barrier/goals made of posts spanned by bell screens framed the space, there to touch, to play with to hear, to walk all around, but not to enter.
